About the position

Bemus Landscape is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Golf Course Groundskeeper to maintain the beauty and upkeep of the golf course grounds. This role involves turf care, plant maintenance, and environmental stewardship, ensuring that all areas of the course are impeccably maintained to enhance the experience for golfers and the aesthetic appeal of the course.

Responsibilities

  • Mow greens, fairways, and roughs using advanced equipment to achieve optimal turf height, density, and health.
  • Perform edging around greens, bunkers, pathways, and landscaped areas to maintain clean, defined borders.
  • Collect and remove debris, leaves, and clippings from greens and walkways to keep areas tidy and playable.
  • Apply fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides in a precise, environmentally responsible manner following best practices and safety protocols.
  • Water turf, trees, shrubs, and flowerbeds as needed, leveraging automated irrigation systems and sensors where possible.
  • Prune and shape trees, shrubs, and hedges to enhance growth, health, and aesthetic appeal.
  • Weed and mulch flowerbeds and landscaped areas, promoting a clean and vibrant appearance while using sustainable practices to reduce chemical dependence.
  • Install new plants and maintain existing beds, ensuring seasonal rotation for maximum visual impact.
  • Set up and maintain tee markers, flagsticks, and sand bunkers according to golf course standards.
  • Rake and shape sand bunkers daily, ensuring smooth, even surfaces free of debris.
  • Conduct daily course inspections to assess and address any issues with divots, ball marks, or uneven surfaces, ensuring optimal play conditions.
  • Assist in maintaining and repairing irrigation systems, identifying areas of improvement to conserve water and improve efficiency.
  • Clean, calibrate, and store all landscaping equipment and tools, ensuring readiness for daily operations.
  • Identify equipment malfunctions, report repair needs, and assist with preventive maintenance routines.
  • Monitor and help maintain an inventory of necessary supplies and materials, coordinating with supervisors to restock as needed.
  • Follow established safety guidelines and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Adhere to environmental regulations for waste disposal, water usage, and chemical application, promoting sustainability and resource conservation.
  • Participate in training on eco-friendly practices, including water conservation, organic treatments, and energy-efficient equipment use.
  • Conduct routine safety checks, identifying potential hazards, and taking action to maintain a safe, compliant work environment.
  • Interact professionally and courteously with golfers, addressing any questions or requests about course conditions.
  • Respond to client and golfer inquiries or concerns, relaying any suggestions or improvement requests to supervisors.
  • Offer recommendations for landscape or course improvements that enhance the golfer experience and course aesthetics.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in turf management, horticulture, or landscaping are beneficial.
  • At least 1 year of experience in groundskeeping, golf course maintenance, or landscaping is preferred.
  • Knowledge of turf maintenance, landscaping techniques, and familiarity with groundskeeping tools and machinery.
  • Understanding of plant species and turfgrass types common to golf course landscaping.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong work ethic and commitment to quality.
  • Basic knowledge of safety protocols and a proactive approach to accident prevention.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

  • Bilingual Spanish and English skills are required.
