The Golf Course Turf Specialist at the University of Oklahoma is responsible for performing essential maintenance and landscape duties on the golf course property. This role involves the operation of various golf course maintenance and landscaping tools and equipment to ensure the upkeep of the golf course and its surrounding landscapes. The specialist will engage in a variety of tasks including mowing and maintaining greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and native areas as directed by their supervisor. Additionally, the role includes raking, trimming, and maintaining bunkers, as well as hand-watering turf areas and edging cart paths, curbs, and trees as needed. The position requires the application of pesticides and fertilizers under the supervision of a qualified supervisor. The Golf Course Turf Specialist must operate and use maintenance equipment safely and correctly, ensuring that all assigned equipment is functioning properly. This includes daily refueling, cleaning, and reporting any equipment issues to the Equipment Manager immediately. The specialist will also be responsible for basic preventive maintenance on equipment as directed and must communicate any problems or failures on the golf course property to their supervisor promptly. Other duties essential to the operation of the golf course may be assigned as needed. This position is physically demanding and requires the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. The Golf Course Turf Specialist will report directly to the Director of Golf Course Grounds & Maintenance and will receive general supervision from leadership personnel in grounds maintenance.
