About the position
The Golf Retail Associate plays a crucial role in assisting the Golf Shop Manager with daily operations of the retail shop and golf operations, ensuring that members and guests receive excellent service. This position involves greeting customers, managing merchandise displays, and providing information about golf tournaments and events. The associate is responsible for maintaining a clean shop environment, processing sales, and handling inventory, all while demonstrating a strong knowledge of golf-related products and services.
Responsibilities
- Greet members and guests on the sales floor and determine their merchandise needs.
- Maintain cleanliness of the shop, including dressing rooms.
- Display merchandise and suggest selections that meet customer needs.
- Demonstrate the use of merchandise to customers.
- Assist with tournament information and coordinate special events.
- Answer member questions regarding golf operations via phone calls.
- Communicate with golf professionals and rangers using radios.
- Add or adjust tee times for members as needed.
- Estimate quantity of merchandise required to meet customer needs.
- Wrap and bag purchased merchandise for members.
- Take inventory of stock on a monthly basis or as needed.
- Requisition merchandise from the stockroom.
- Examine defective articles returned by members for refunds or replacements.
- Open and close computers daily and prepare daily sales recap for the Accounting Department.
- Answer telephone calls in a polite and professional manner.
- Use computer database to research availability of merchandise.
- Process special orders and book lessons or court reservations.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Retail experience preferred.
- Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Word and retail software.
Nice-to-haves
