About the position
The Golf Shop Associate at Lakewood Country Club plays a vital role in providing exceptional service to members and guests in the Golf Shop. This position requires a positive attitude and a commitment to assisting customers with their needs, whether it be advising on golf attire, clubs, or supplies. The associate will perform various tasks as assigned by the Director of Golf, Senior Assistant Golf Professional, and Assistant Golf Professionals, ensuring that the Golf Shop operates smoothly and efficiently. The Golf Shop Associate will be responsible for managing the point-of-sale (POS) system, recording sales transactions, and collecting greens fees and golf cart rental fees. They will also assist in merchandising, cleaning, and restocking the Pro Shop inventory, ensuring that the shop is well-presented and stocked with the necessary items for members and guests. Additionally, the associate will help schedule tee times, check in members and guests, and assist with special promotions and sales. This position requires a strong emphasis on customer service, as the associate will be the first point of contact for members and guests. They will need to enthusiastically promote the game of golf and provide golf instruction as needed. The role also involves physical demands such as frequent lifting, bending, and standing, making it essential for the associate to meet the physical requirements of the job. Overall, the Golf Shop Associate is crucial in creating a welcoming and enjoyable experience for all members and guests at Lakewood Country Club.
Responsibilities
- Exhibit a positive attitude while assisting Members and Guests in the Golf Shop.
- Advise Members and Guests about attire, golf clubs, and supplies.
- Arrange and display Pro Shop inventory.
- Assist with Golf Pro Shop merchandising, cleaning, and restocking.
- Record all sales transactions and operate the point of sale (POS) system.
- Collect and record greens fees and golf cart rental fees.
- Issue receipts for greens fees and golf cart rentals.
- Take messages for Members who may be on the course.
- Assist in packing and unpacking inventory.
- Recruit tournament participants and assist in special orders.
- Schedule tee times and check in Members and Guests for golf play.
- Assist with special promotions and sales.
- Open and close the Golf Pro Shop as scheduled.
- Provide golf instruction as schedule warrants.
- Attend staff meetings and complete other assignments requested by the PGA Professional Staff.
Requirements
- Minimum High School diploma or GED equivalent; some college preferred.
- Previous customer service retailing experience.
- Ability to operate a point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Outstanding customer service skills.
- Knowledge of and ability to perform required role in emergency situations.
