About the position
The position involves performing manual and semiskilled work in the care, maintenance, and repair of golf course areas under general supervision. The role includes operating equipment, maintaining turf, and ensuring the grounds are in acceptable playing condition.
Responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining grounds and turf of the golf course.
- Operate tractor and specialized equipment to till, cultivate, and grade new turf areas.
- Apply prescribed amounts of lime, fertilizer, insecticide, and fungicide.
- Mow rough and fairway areas at designated cut.
- Cut turf on green and tee areas using hand and power mowers.
- Connect hoses and sprinkler systems to irrigate turf.
- Dig and rake ground to prepare new greens and clean traps.
- Plant, trim, and spray trees and shrubs as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Knowledge of common practices, methods, tools, and materials for maintenance work.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods.
- Skill in using hand and mechanical tools and equipment.
- Ability to operate trucks, small tractors, and other power equipment.
- Ability to read and understand chemical labels and warnings.
