About the position

The Goodwill Store Associate position involves assisting in various non-management aspects of store operations under the supervision of the Store Manager. The role includes processing donations, completing sales transactions, maintaining store cleanliness, and providing excellent customer service to create a welcoming environment for shoppers and donors.

Responsibilities

  • Sort, price, and display quality merchandise for sale in the store.
  • Meet quality and quantity production standards to maximize sales revenue.
  • Properly discard unsellable merchandise to appropriate containers.
  • Maximize used goods processing through proper application of Goodwill techniques.
  • Meet or exceed production goals consistently.
  • Follow store rotation schedule by completing pulls at scheduled times.
  • Ensure quality customer service is provided in a timely manner.
  • Assist in maintaining sales floor appearance and cleanliness.
  • Assist shoppers on the sales floor in locating and selecting merchandise.
  • Complete sales transactions on the POS system accurately and timely.
  • Accept donations from donors and assist in carrying items into the store.
  • Demonstrate good judgment at cash wrap to protect Agency assets.
  • Assist in maintaining store and surrounding premises to keep clean and free of safety hazards.
  • Report observations or suspicions of theft and other wrongdoing.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred, not required.
  • One to three months related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and communicate with customers.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in retail or customer service environments.
  • Familiarity with POS systems and cash handling.
