About the position

The Goodwill Store Associate is responsible for assisting in the overall operations of the retail store under the supervision of the Store Manager. This part-time position involves receiving and processing donations, completing sales transactions, maintaining store cleanliness, and providing excellent customer service to donors and shoppers. The role requires working weekends and may include holiday and evening hours.

Responsibilities

  • Sort, price, and display quality merchandise for sale in the store.
  • Meet quality and quantity production standards to maximize sales revenue.
  • Properly discard unsellable merchandise to appropriate containers.
  • Maximize used goods processing through sorting, preparing, and pricing items for sale.
  • Meet or exceed production goals consistently.
  • Follow store rotation schedule by completing pulls at scheduled times.
  • Ensure quality customer service is provided to all shoppers, donors, and employees.
  • Assist in maintaining sales floor appearance and cleanliness.
  • Assist shoppers on the sales floor in locating and selecting merchandise.
  • Complete sales transactions on the POS system accurately and timely.
  • Accept donations from donors and assist in carrying items into the store.
  • Demonstrate good judgment at cash wrap to protect Agency assets.
  • Assist in maintaining store and surrounding premises to keep clean and free of safety hazards.
  • Report observations or suspicions of theft and other wrongdoing.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred, not required.
  • 1-3 months related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and communicate with customers.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in retail or customer service environments.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment such as hand trucks and electric pallet jacks.
