The Google Cloud Platform Cloud Infrastructure and Security Engineer position is a critical role focused on the design, implementation, and management of cloud infrastructure and security solutions within the Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This position requires a deep understanding of cloud technologies and security practices, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with various teams to ensure the integrity and security of cloud-based systems. The engineer will be responsible for leveraging GCP services such as Cloud Functions, Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), BigQuery, Cloud SQL, Identity and Access Management (IAM), Looker, Google Cloud Storage (GCS), and Firebase to build and maintain robust cloud infrastructures. In this role, the engineer will utilize Terraform to automate the provisioning of cloud resources, ensuring that infrastructure is built according to best practices and is easily manageable. A solid understanding of Linux fundamentals is essential, as the engineer will be working with Linux-based systems within the cloud environment. Additionally, familiarity with infrastructure security scanning tools, such as the Security Command Center, will be beneficial in identifying and mitigating potential security risks. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving and analytical skills, enabling them to troubleshoot complex issues effectively. They should be a team player who can work independently when necessary, demonstrating excellent verbal and written communication skills. The engineer will also be expected to stay informed about industry trends and advancements in cloud-native technologies, bringing innovative ideas to the team for proof of concept (POC) and implementation.
