About the position
The Google Cloud Platform Data Engineer role involves designing, developing, and delivering data integration and extraction solutions primarily using Google Cloud technologies. The position requires expertise in data warehousing and data lake implementations, with a focus on utilizing tools like BigQuery and various ETL tools to enhance data processing capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deliver data integration and extraction solutions using IBM DataStage or other ETL tools.
- Implement data warehouse and data lake solutions using Google Cloud Platform technologies.
- Convert ETL jobs from tools like Informatica, Talend, or DataStage into Dataflow or Dataproc and migrate them into CI/CD pipelines.
- Utilize Linux/Unix shell scripting and SQL for data manipulation and processing.
- Troubleshoot and solve complex technical problems related to data integration and processing.
- Work in Agile environments to deliver data solutions.
Requirements
- 3-4 years of experience in Google Cloud Platform with a total of 6-8 years of experience in data engineering.
- 3-5 years of experience in data warehouse and data lake implementation.
- 1-2 years of experience specifically with Google BigQuery.
- 1-2 years of experience converting ETL jobs into Dataflow or Dataproc and working with CI/CD pipelines.
- Proficiency in Linux/Unix shell scripting and SQL.
- Knowledge of data modeling, database design, and the data warehousing ecosystem.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with Agile methodologies.
- Familiarity with additional ETL tools beyond those mentioned.
