About the position

The Google Data Engineer position involves contributing to a multi-year data analytics modernization roadmap for a bank. The role focuses on working with Google BigQuery and other GCP services to integrate new data sources and model data up to the serving layer. The engineer will collaborate with various business groups to understand their requirements and design GCP architecture, while also developing cloud strategies and best practices for efficient cloud utilization. This position offers a unique opportunity to rethink reporting and analytics using cloud technology, and requires providing technical guidance and mentorship to team members.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to multi-year data analytics modernization roadmap for the bank.
• Work on the platform based on Google BigQuery and other GCP services to integrate new data sources and model data.
• Collaborate with different business groups to understand their business requirements and design GCP architecture.
• Develop and implement cloud strategies, best practices, and standards for cloud utilization.
• Work with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and manage scalable cloud solutions on GCP.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the team.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest GCP technologies and assess their applicability to client solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/IT.
• Strong understanding of data fundamentals and data engineering.
• Implementation experience with GCP's Data Storage and Processing services such as BigQuery, Dataflow, and Cloud SQL.
• Programmatic experience with SQL, Python, and Apache Spark.
• At least 7-8 years of professional experience in data engineering, with at least 5 years on GCP.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree in Data Analytics/Information Technology/Management Information System.
• Experience with legacy data warehouses on SQL Server or any relational data warehouse platform.
• Experience with tools like dbt, terraform/terragrunt, and Git (CI/CD).
• Experience with Business Intelligence tools like PowerBI and/or Looker.
