Responsibilities

  • Promote positive working relationships and facilitate ongoing communication between the Department and local governments.
  • Serve as a liaison to ensure efficient coordination and response to community needs.
  • Monitor federal and state regulations and changes.
  • Research new and existing policies to ensure compliance with guidelines.
  • Plan the impact of regulations relating to broadband capabilities and e-government participation.
  • Review and analyze funding opportunities to ensure effective program delivery.
  • Oversee the Local Technology Planning Team Initiative and maintain active records.
  • Communicate regularly with Local Technology Planning Team members and stakeholders.
  • Travel throughout the state to attend Local Technology Planning Team meetings as needed.
  • Research and respond to funding opportunities for broadband expansion in Florida.
  • Assist in writing updates for the Strategic Plan for Broadband.
  • Prepare summaries and analyses of proposed legislation and draft amendment language.
  • Monitor legislation in other states and develop program rules as required.

Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of broadband infrastructure and deployment in Florida.
  • Knowledge of grant programs and funding opportunities.
  • Ability to coordinate with federal, state, and local entities.
  • Knowledge of the legislative process and state government workings.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to perform computer-based research activities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities.
