About the position

The Government Banking Relationship Manager at South Shore Bank is responsible for business development and portfolio management of government banking clients. This role involves prospecting new clients, facilitating account openings, managing ongoing relationships, and providing excellent client support. The manager will also serve as a subject matter expert in government banking, focusing on building and maintaining relationships with municipal entities and ensuring the bank's services meet their needs.

Responsibilities

• Prospect new government clients and facilitate account opening and treasury management onboarding.
• Manage ongoing relationships with government banking clients, ensuring retention and satisfaction.
• Attend sales calls and appropriate events to promote the bank's government banking services.
• Create detailed notes on client interactions and outreach efforts.
• Provide excellent client support during and after the implementation of banking services.
• Collaborate with internal business partners to resolve client issues and enhance service delivery.
• Cross-sell other banking services as applicable to government clients.
• Develop and modify business plans in collaboration with management.
• Participate in county/state-based government associations and events.

Requirements

• Minimum three years of banking, cash management, municipal treasury/collections, or financial services experience required.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with clients and employees.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Basic understanding of treasury management products and services.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous experience in Government Banking or Municipal Treasury/Collections preferred.
• Familiarity with banking procedures and regulations.
