About the position

The Government Healthcare Actuary position at Mercer involves leading actuarial and quantitative analysis projects within the Government Human Services Consulting team. The role requires a strong background in health actuarial science, particularly in Medicaid, and focuses on transforming Medicaid programs to better serve the public. This hybrid role necessitates in-office work at least three days a week and offers opportunities for professional development and collaboration with a diverse team.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a lead actuary on complex actuarial and quantitative analysis projects.
  • Perform and review moderately complex analyses using or modifying existing tools and pricing models.
  • Draft client reports and presentations to summarize findings and recommend strategies.
  • Review data analyses conducted by junior staff to ensure actuarial soundness and assist in their development.
  • Manage small projects and provide guidance to junior team members.
  • Assist senior project team members with day-to-day client contact and management.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree
  • 3+ years minimum health actuarial experience, with at least 1 year of Medicaid actuarial experience
  • Actuarial credentials (ASA, FSA, MAAA)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a demanding environment.
