About the position

The internship program at CareFirst's Strategy & Growth division offers a unique opportunity for undergraduate students to gain hands-on experience in various functions including venture capital, management consulting, marketing, and strategic marketing. Interns will work closely with a small team dedicated to improving healthcare for members and the broader community, focusing on operational excellence and innovative solutions in the healthcare sector.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Government Programs Team in their core mission related to Medicare and Medicaid lines of businesses.
  • Assist in driving and tracking initiatives for Individual Medicare lines of business.
  • Participate in product implementation activities for the Annual Election Period and Open Enrollment.
  • Learn operational aspects of Marketing and support projects focused on communications for prospects, sales, providers, and members.
  • Assist as a business analyst or junior project manager on various IT projects and data analysis.
  • Support projects related to Medicaid growth and program expansion, including project management, strategy, and policy analysis.

Requirements

  • Current sophomore or junior pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business, Data Analytics, Marketing, Communications, Healthcare Administration, IT, or a related field with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
  • Independent thinker and self-starter with the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Project management experience or education preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
  • Strategic and creative decision maker with self-motivation.
  • Attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation assistance.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to set priorities.
  • Demonstrated skills with various computer applications/software, particularly in database management and presentation development.
