About the position

The Government Sales Account Manager at AFC Industries, Inc. is responsible for managing bids, solicitations, and proposals primarily for government divisions. This role involves understanding the terms and conditions of government contracts, generating new sales opportunities, and ensuring compliance with regulations. The position requires strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with a focus on maximizing sales growth in the government sector.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all bids, solicitations, unsolicited proposals, and large quotations submitted by government divisions.
  • Understand terms and conditions, and special requirements on bids and solicitations.
  • Work with management to review quotes for compliance with regulations.
  • Generate new sales opportunities with government clients utilizing the company GSA schedule.
  • Create goals and objectives for targeting government customers to maximize sales growth.
  • Understand and read terms and details of bids, especially delivery specifications.
  • Create and maintain construction and contract documents related to government/GSA schedule, projects, and contracts.
  • Provide administrative, sales, and follow-up support to internal sales and project management teams regarding government/GSA projects and contracts.
  • Serve as a company representative at major industry events, conferences, and/or tradeshows.
  • Promote product knowledge by setting up meetings and offering product demonstrations to government customers.

Requirements

  • Understanding of government and GSA contracting including account structures, procurement processes, RFPs, and standard bid requests.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, cost proposal, CRM, and project bid software.
  • Possess a forward-thinking and proactive attitude.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate leadership in negotiations and critical thinking.
  • Ability to work in a team environment or individually with little direct supervision.
  • Good driving record and valid driver's license.
