About the position

Walsingham Group Inc. is seeking a full-time Government Security Specialist Officer (GSSO) to support Special Access Programs (SAPs) in the Fort Liberty Area. This position is critical in providing security guidance and support to various government agencies, ensuring compliance with federal security laws and regulations. The GSSO will serve as a SAP Security Specialist, responsible for overseeing program security, which includes information, personnel, physical, and industrial security, as well as document control. The role requires a proactive approach to security management, acting as a consultant and subject matter expert to military, civilian, contractors, and subcontractors across all ranks and services. The GSSO will be tasked with receiving and processing program access requests, developing justifications, and applying security guidance. This includes providing direct support and technical assistance in all security matters related to SAPs. The officer will also be responsible for initiating, preparing, researching, staffing, reviewing, and finalizing internal and external Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), policies, regulations, and supplements. Additionally, the GSSO will develop and present mandatory security training for the Group, civilian employees, and military personnel, ensuring that all personnel are well-informed about security protocols. Collaboration with service Program Managers is essential to ensure that the Group's SAP security program remains compliant with all applicable security laws and regulations. The GSSO will validate security clearances for civilian, military, and contract personnel, and will review, analyze, and evaluate data from completed investigations. This role also involves implementing a comprehensive security support program that encompasses policies, standards, procedures, methods, techniques, and information necessary for the protection of all operational aspects of SAP security administration. The GSSO will perform all other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall security and operational integrity of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as SAP Security Specialist responsible for program security including information, personnel, physical and industrial security, and document control.
  • Provide SAP security guidance to military, civilian, contractors, and subcontractors of all ranks and services.
  • Act as a consultant and subject matter expert on procedures and requirements related to SAPs.
  • Receive and process program access requests, develop justifications, and apply security guidance.
  • Provide direct support and technical assistance in all matters related to SAP security.
  • Initiate, prepare, research, staff, review, and finalize internal and external SOPs, policies, regulations, and supplements.
  • Develop outlines, prepare, schedule, and present mandatory security training for the Group, civilian employees, and military personnel.
  • Schedule all DOD and non-DOD Program indoctrinated personnel for screening examinations and make arrangements for examinations.
  • Work closely with service Program Managers to ensure compliance with federal security laws and regulations.
  • Validate security clearances for civilian, military, and contract personnel.
  • Review, analyze, and evaluate data from completed investigations.
  • Implement a security support program involving policies, standards, procedures, methods, techniques, and information for SAP security administration.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Access.
  • Minimum of five years of related experience as a Security Specialist, GSSO or CIV equivalent (GS/GG 0080).
  • Demonstrate success working in an environment with many different companies/partners and stakeholders.
  • Ability to follow established practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data.
  • Receive predetermined work assignments that are subject to a moderate level of control and review.
  • Ability to identify training needs and development opportunities for subordinates.
