As a Governmental Accountant at CDS, you will perform a wide variety of audit functions specifically tailored to government clients. This role requires frequent same-day travel and occasional out-of-town travel to work at clients' offices. Flexibility is essential to meet the diverse needs of clients and the firm, and seasonal overtime will be required to accommodate peak periods. In this role, you will be responsible for the preparation of audited financial statements, performing all audit functions and tests as prescribed in applicable audit programs, and identifying accounting, compliance, and reporting issues. You will maintain a working knowledge of all current auditing laws and statutes, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), auditing standards, and standards unique to government entities. Additionally, you will participate in CDS's Governmental Accounting & Auditing Committee, conduct research related to client work and internal projects, and provide timely, high-quality client service. Managing client expectations and assisting clients with their audit-related questions will also be a key part of your responsibilities. You will be expected to attend Continuing Professional Education sessions to develop your interpersonal skills and professional expertise, while embodying the core values of CDS: integrity, quality, collaboration, innovation, and kindness. Building and maintaining client relationships will be crucial, and you may also be assigned other duties as needed.
