About the position

The Project Specialist, under the direction of the Behavioral Health Manager, is responsible for performing a wide range of difficult to complex administrative activities requiring diverse advanced knowledge and expertise relating to healthcare administration, strategic planning, project management, facility project management, grant writing, evaluation, management and monitoring. In addition, the Project Specialist will directly coordinate large complex project(s) for the Behavioral Health Division.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct service and support to departments within the Behavioral Health Division and assists with identifying departmental needs, managing special projects, coordinating developing, monitoring strategic plans, and organizational needs as it relates to grants and Health Division goals and objectives.
  • Provides assistance in grant writing, proofing, and submitting of grant proposals to funding agencies.
  • Research grant opportunities which will benefit the Tribe and disseminates the information appropriately.
  • Coordinates and facilitates complex projects for the Behavioral Health Division.
  • Participates in the development and coordination of Behavioral Health Division Strategic Planning.
  • Ensures compliance, monitoring, reporting and oversight over Federal grants.
  • Prepares, participates and/or delivers presentations to the Board of Directors, tribal programs and communities as needed.
  • Attends Board of Directors as directed Program level meetings, department meetings, and appropriate committee meetings.
  • Travels to meetings and conferences in state and occasionally out of state.
  • All other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, General Business, Healthcare Management, Operations Management, Public Health Management, Planning and Development or five years demonstrated ability in related work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum of 3 years' work experience in Planning and Development, Project Management, Grants Management or Health Administration required.
  • Minimum of 2 years' with accessing grant portals including submission processes required.
  • Experience, interest and commitment to healthcare for underserved groups preferred.
  • Must maintain a good moral character standing.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable by the Sault Tribe Insurance Department.
  • Must comply with annual driver's license review and insurability standards with the Sault Tribe Insurance Department.
  • Will be required to complete and pass pre-employment drug testing.

  • Experience, interest and commitment to healthcare for underserved groups preferred.
  • Native American preferred.
