About the position

At Bristol Myers Squibb, the GPS Data & Analytics Solution Architect plays a pivotal role in the delivery of data enablement projects and the operational support of the Enterprise data lake. This position is responsible for the end-to-end management of data projects, ensuring that the technical team is effectively coached and mentored in the design, build, management, and operation of the GPS - Enterprise data lake capabilities. The architect will work closely with the Global Product Development and Supply - Data and Analytics Enablement organization to ensure that the data ecosystem is optimized and aligned with business needs. The role requires a deep understanding of the GPS data ecosystem, which spans across various functional areas such as Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Product Development, Quality, and Cell Therapy. The architect will be responsible for developing and implementing solutions using AWS technologies, including Redshift, S3, and RDS, while also ensuring compliance with legal and company guidelines. This position will also involve evaluating emerging technologies and providing recommendations for their integration into the existing architecture. In addition to technical responsibilities, the architect will lead a team of data engineers and operations support staff, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages continuous improvement and innovation. The role demands strong communication skills to effectively partner with other data, platform, and cloud teams, ensuring that all stakeholders are aligned and informed throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, lead, and mentor a team of data engineers, operations support, and testing resources.
  • Participate in the analysis, design, build, manage, and operate lifecycle of the enterprise data lake and analytics capabilities.
  • Develop an understanding of the GPS data ecosystem across functional towers.
  • Build awareness of the technology platform strategy and lead releases, making technical recommendations across the data ecosystem.
  • Develop solutions using Python, AWS Redshift/S3/RDS, and other native AWS services.
  • Evaluate and provide feasibility assessments of emerging technologies and tools.
  • Partner with other teams to identify opportunities for continuous improvements.
  • Architect and develop data solutions according to legal and company guidelines.
  • Assess system performance and recommend improvements.
  • Provide effort and cost estimations for scaling prototypes.

Requirements

  • 4-6 years of experience in information technology, specifically in developing AWS cloud native data lakes and ecosystems.
  • 2-4 years of experience in solution architecture and integrations.
  • Deep understanding of cloud technologies, preferably AWS, and related services.
  • 4-6 years of experience with operations and production support.
  • At least 3 years of experience in an onshore-offshore delivery model.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or equivalent is preferred.
  • Project Management (PMP) and/or ITIL Service Management certification is a plus.
  • Prior experience in global life sciences, especially in the GPS functional area, is a plus.
  • Experience working internationally with a globally dispersed team.
