About the position

The Mosesian Center for the Arts (MCA) is seeking a passionate and experienced Gr. K-4 Visual Arts Teaching Artist for the Fall 2024 semester. This part-time position involves teaching weekly classes that span over 8 weeks, focusing on visual arts education for elementary school students. The teaching artist will be responsible for developing and facilitating engaging art lessons that cater to students of varying skill levels and interests. The MCA is committed to fostering a welcoming and creative community where participants can explore new art forms, learn from experienced teaching artists, and connect with their peers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in arts education and a dedication to nurturing creativity in young learners. As a teaching artist at the MCA, you will play a crucial role in shaping the artistic experiences of students. You will be expected to create a curriculum that is not only educational but also inspiring, encouraging students to express themselves through various visual arts mediums. The position requires excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with the Youth Education Director. Responsibilities

  • Develop and facilitate visual arts curriculum for K-4 students.
  • Teach weekly classes for 8 weeks, engaging students of all skill levels.

  • Collaborate with the Youth Education Director to align programming with organizational goals.
  • Communicate effectively with students and their families regarding class expectations and progress.

Requirements

  • Prior experience teaching elementary school students.
  • Interest in teaching participants of all skill and experience levels.
  • Passion for the arts and developing visual arts curriculum/programming.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Punctuality, reliability, and flexibility.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with the Youth Education Director.
  • Reliable transportation to the Mosesian Center for the Arts (Watertown, MA).

Benefits

  • Starting stipend of $70 per 1.25 hr class to account for planning and facilitation.
