About the position

The Graduate Admissions Advisor at Brooklyn College is responsible for processing graduate applications and assisting with various admissions activities. This role involves participating in recruitment events, providing customer service, and coordinating communications through social media. The advisor will also support promotional material production and ensure effective outreach to prospective students, contributing to the college's enrollment goals.

Responsibilities

  • Process graduate applications and assist with admissions activities.
  • Participate in virtual and on- and off-campus recruitment events.
  • Provide customer service and follow-up through various communication channels.
  • Coordinate communication on Brooklyn College's admissions social media outlets.
  • Assist in creating relevant campaigns to engage the target audience.
  • Support the production of promotional materials for admissions.
  • Maintain knowledge of best practices in graduate admissions and recruitment.
  • Perform data clean-up tasks such as GPA calculations and residency updates.
  • Assist with special projects and reports as directed by the Director of Graduate Admissions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • One year of experience in an Admissions office or Enrollment setting preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience using admissions and recruiting systems/tools like Hobsons Connect or ApplyYourself.
  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft and/or CUNYfirst.

Nice-to-haves

  • Flexibility to work evening and weekend hours as needed.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, writing and public speaking ability.
  • Exemplary customer service skills and ability to build relationships with key constituents.
  • Experience with events and local or regional travel planning.
  • Knowledge of trends and best practices in admissions and recruitment.
  • Experience with social media outlets for recruitment purposes.
