About The Position

The Graduate Assistant position is located in the Department of Oceanography at the University of Hawaii, Manoa Campus. This is a part-time, temporary role that will begin approximately in August 2024. The position involves assisting the Principal Investigator with training and research on a cross-disciplinary project that combines geology and astronomy, specifically in the areas of marine geology, astrochronology, and cyclostratigraphy. The assistant will develop experience and expertise in analyzing models, developing code, and writing reports. The position is subject to satisfactory work performance and availability of funds.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a focus in geology, astronomy, physics, numerics, or equivalent subject field.
  • By the date of hire, enrollment in the graduate oceanography program at UH Manoa.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Quantitative skills or a background in physics, astronomy, numerics, or equivalent subject field.
