About the position

The Graduate Assistant in Human Resources at James Madison University (JMU) is a part-time position designed for current graduate students who are looking to gain practical experience in the field of human resources. This role primarily focuses on managing LinkedIn Recruiter efforts to attract top talent for the university. The Graduate Assistant will have the opportunity to utilize LinkedIn Recruiter to source, engage, and support recruitment initiatives, which includes managing job postings, performing targeted candidate searches, and initiating outreach to potential candidates. In addition to recruitment responsibilities, the Graduate Assistant will also assist with the Dual Career and Community Resources Program. This program is essential for providing support to new and prospective JMU employees and their families, offering resources and assistance for relocating spouses or partners in their job search. The position requires a commitment of 20 hours per week during the semester, allowing the Graduate Assistant to balance work with their academic responsibilities. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, as they will be interacting with candidates and collaborating with the HR Recruitment team. Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to analyze recruitment data are crucial for success in this role. The Graduate Assistant will also be expected to maintain confidentiality and security of candidate information while contributing to the overall recruitment strategy of JMU.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize LinkedIn Recruiter to search for and identify potential candidates based on job requirements.
  • Use searches, filters, and other LinkedIn Recruiter tools to refine candidate searches.
  • Follow up with candidates to maintain interest and guide them through the application process.
  • Submit and manage job postings on LinkedIn.
  • Track and report on key metrics related to recruiting efforts on LinkedIn.
  • Maintain accurate records of candidate interactions and progress in the recruitment process.
  • Participate in Recruitment Team meetings and provide insights based on LinkedIn data.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of candidate information.
  • Assist with research and creation of resources for the Dual Career and Community Resources Program.

Requirements

  • Must be a current JMU graduate student as of August 2024.
  • Must be able to work 20 hours per week during the semester.
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Human Resources, Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with candidates.
  • Ability to analyze recruitment data and metrics to optimize sourcing strategies.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in managing candidate information and job postings.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and priorities efficiently.
  • Commitment to maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive information.

Benefits

  • Stipend of $9,816 ($4,908 per semester)
