About the position

Kentucky Christian University (KCU) is seeking three graduate students to join the Track and Field/Cross Country (TF/XC) Graduate Residency Program as graduate assistants. These positions are designed for individuals who are passionate about coaching, mentoring, and leading student-athletes throughout their academic and athletic journeys at KCU. The graduate assistants will play a crucial role in leading one or more event groups, which may include throws, jumps, hurdles, sprints, and distance events. The primary focus of these roles is to emphasize the holistic growth of each student-athlete, ensuring they are supported academically, athletically, and spiritually. The vision of the TF/XC Graduate Residency Program is to foster a culture of excellence and growth within the program. Graduate assistants will be dedicated to empowering athletes to reach their fullest potential both on and off the track. This involves providing comprehensive support to the TF/XC program, assisting coaches in developing student-athletes through personalized training, academic guidance, and character building. The program is committed to upholding values such as teamwork, integrity, and continuous improvement, while striving to create a positive and competitive environment that inspires a lifelong love for the sport and prepares athletes for success beyond graduation.

Responsibilities

  • Coach and mentor student-athletes in various event groups including throws, jumps, hurdles, sprints, and distance.
  • Provide personalized training and academic guidance to student-athletes.
  • Assist in character building and holistic development of student-athletes.
  • Support the head coach in the administration of the TF/XC program.
  • Foster a positive and competitive environment for student-athletes.
  • Engage in regular spiritual formation practices and disciplines.

Requirements

  • Must have an undergraduate degree.
  • Acceptance into one of KCU's Master's programs.
  • Experience competing at the collegiate level in any event, with special consideration for throws, jumps, hurdles, sprints, and distance event groups.
  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Ability to lead in both spiritual and athletic realms.
