The Graduate Assistant position at the Undergraduate Research, Scholarship & Creativity Office (URSCO) at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro is designed to provide graduate students with an opportunity to gain valuable experience in office management, research, and academic support. This role is particularly focused on assisting with various administrative tasks that are essential for the smooth operation of the office. The Graduate Assistant will work closely with the URSCO's Director and Assistant Director, contributing to the office's mission of promoting undergraduate research and creativity. The Graduate Assistant will engage in a variety of responsibilities that include managing social media accounts, organizing event registration information, and preparing event booklets. Additionally, the role involves handling office management tasks such as email correspondence, document preparation, and printing. The Graduate Assistant will also be responsible for organizing application materials and assisting in the collection and management of student information, which is crucial for departmental and grant reporting. Moreover, the Graduate Assistant will have the opportunity to develop teaching methodologies and learn academic assessment techniques. This includes conducting workshops on creating poster presentations, developing office newsletters, and creating and updating flyers and brochures. The position is part-time, requiring 20 hours of work per week during the fall semester, with the possibility of continuation into the spring semester. The stipend for this position is $15,000 for the academic year, although tuition waivers are not provided by URSCO. This role is ideal for graduate students looking to enhance their professional skills while contributing to the academic community.

Responsibilities

  • Manage social media accounts for the office

Requirements

  • Maintain academic good standing at all times (minimum GPA of 3.0)
  • Be enrolled full-time (generally a minimum of 9 credits)
  • Make satisfactory progress toward your degree as defined by the academic program and the Graduate School
  • Meet the requirements to be eligible for employment in the U.S.
