About the position

As a Graduate Audio Visual / Experience Designer, you will be part of a team that focuses on UX Strategy and Design, addressing both physical spaces and digital environments. This internship is an opportunity to engage in a variety of tasks that will enhance your skills and contribute to meaningful projects. You will be involved in visually storyboarding early experience design concepts and narratives, developing user personas, use cases, and user journeys that shape experiences in the built environment. Your graphic design skills will be utilized in creating infographics and diagrams using tools like Adobe Illustrator and InDesign. Additionally, you will have the chance to facilitate workshops and engage in user research and community engagement activities. In this role, you will undertake 3D modeling and design work, assist in preparing reports, drawings, sketches, and models, and develop, document, and present concepts and designs using both 2D and 3D drawing tools. You will practice creative coding and apply technology creatively to develop design solutions, write concept briefs to convey design ideas, and participate in meetings, design reviews, and coordination sessions with clients and design teams. Your ability to develop solutions to design issues through listening, critical thinking, and visual demonstrations will be essential in this collaborative environment. Responsibilities

  • Visually storyboard early experience design concepts and narratives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Acoustics, Music, Interactive Media, Audio/Sound, Architecture, Physics, Computer Science, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Strongly demonstrated coursework in your field of interest.
  • Professional demeanor and skills in planning and organizing.
  • Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way.
  • Attitude of taking initiative, enthusiasm, and eagerness to learn.
  • Evidence of past internship or extracurricular activity in the field.
  • History of technical presentations and technical writing.
  • Presentation skills with colleagues and clients of all levels.
  • Proven ability to perform in a deadline environment.
  • Exceptional organization skills required for a constantly evolving environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills essential for team-based working.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in User Experience Design, Exhibit Design, Physical Computing or closely related field.
  • A background/training in music practice or playing a musical instrument.
  • Evidence of personal investment in academic or extracurricular field.
  • Additional computing skills such as Max/MSP, Unity Game Engine, Steam VR, Python, TouchDesigner, Disguise (D3), Houdini, OpenFrameworks, Java/OpenGL, Adobe creative suite, Cinema4D, Maya, Node.js, HTML/CSS/SASS, React.js, Tone.js, MongoDB, WebVR, JavaScript/jQuery, Processing, Arduino, C# / C++, Ableton Live, Sound design, Matlab, ProTools, Audition, Excel, Visual Basic, AutoCAD, and 3D modeling skills (Rhino, SketchUp, etc.).
