About the position

Halff Associates Inc. is seeking a Graduate Civil Engineer specializing in Transportation to join our team in Austin, TX. This position is ideal for recent graduates who are eager to develop their careers in civil engineering, particularly in roadway and highway design projects. As a Graduate Civil Engineer, you will work under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer, gaining hands-on experience in various aspects of civil engineering design. In this role, you will be responsible for designing civil engineering projects, performing schematic design work, and conducting calculations and analyses necessary for project development. Collaboration is key, as you will coordinate with team members, including surveyors and contractors, to ensure project success. Additionally, you will attend meetings with clients and regulatory agencies, representing Halff and contributing to the overall project management process. Responsibilities

  • Design civil engineering projects under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer
  • Perform schematic design work
  • Perform calculations and analysis for design projects
  • Assist in the preparation of permit applications and other regulatory documents
  • Coordinate with other team members, including surveyors and contractors
  • Attend meetings with clients and regulatory agencies

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or ABET accredited equivalent Engineering degree
  • Valid Driver's License and acceptable Driving Record
  • The ability to obtain an EIT Certificate within one (1) year
  • Great communication skills
  • Solid relationship and team building skills
  • Self-motivated and strong organization skills

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Transportation Design for roadway & highway design projects
  • Experience in MicroStation and/or OpenRoads Designer
  • Knowledge of applicable roadway and drainage modules
