About the position

The Saint Mary's College Athletic Communications Office is seeking a Graduate Coordinator Fellow to assist with the operations of the Sports Information Team. This role offers hands-on experience working with NCAA Division I Athletic teams, providing a stimulating environment to develop skills in athletic communications. The position is designed for current SMC Graduate Kinesiology students and includes a $2500 Fellowship award along with hourly compensation.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the day-to-day operation of the Sports Information office.
• Write press releases, game recaps, and feature stories for assigned sports.
• Maintain statistics, record books, and photo galleries.
• Manage the athletics website and photograph athletes.
• Serve as the primary contact for assigned sports and aid in coverage of other in-season teams.
• Conduct pre-game, in-game, and post-game coverage for assigned home contests.
• Promote Saint Mary's athletics through social media platforms.
• Interact with local and national media outlets.
• Help coaches and student-athletes schedule and conduct interviews.
• Score games using StatCrew or NCAA LiveStats.
• Produce game notes, flyers, and previews.

Requirements

• Must be enrolled in Saint Mary's MA in Kinesiology graduate program.
• Minimum of 5 units during each Fall/Spring semester to maintain eligibility.
• Strong desire to pursue a career in communications, external relations, and/or broadcasting.
• Ability to work weekends, nights, and odd hours.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous work with Adobe Creative Cloud.
