About the position

Arcadis is seeking a Graduate Electrical Designer to join their team in Indianapolis, IN. This entry-level position focuses on providing technical and design consulting services in electrical power distribution, lighting, communications, fire protection, and industrial control systems for various projects, including federal military construction, oil and gas, and environmental projects. The role involves collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams and offers opportunities for mentorship and professional growth.

Responsibilities

  • Electrical design and coordination of various projects, including industrial and municipal projects with an emphasis on water and wastewater treatment plant-related buildings.
  • Establish design criteria, perform design calculations, and develop one-line diagrams, control schematics, plans, and specifications.
  • Review manufacturer information to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Engage in cost estimating, code review, field investigation, report writing, and other electrical engineering tasks.
  • Provide engineering services during construction, including reviewing equipment submittals, shop drawings, and responding to contractor RFIs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology, or a closely related field of study.
  • Engineer In Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain EIT within one year from date of hire.
  • Basic proficiency with Revit, Microstation, and AutoCAD, specifically concerning electrical systems for engineering design and construction projects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with multi-disciplinary teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior internship experience in consulting or with oil and gas and/or Federal projects.
  • Basic understanding and proficiency with SKM Power Tools, short circuit calculations, overcurrent coordination, and arc flash analysis.
  • Strong baseline knowledge of National Electrical Codes (NEC) requirements.
