At Baird, Hampton & Brown, we are committed to building partnerships through creative and sustainable engineering solutions. With over 30 years of experience, we understand the importance of a solid foundation in every aspect of our work. We are currently seeking a full-time, exempt Graduate Electrical Engineer to join our team. This entry-level position is designed for individuals who are eager to learn and grow in the field of electrical engineering. As a Graduate Electrical Engineer, you will be involved in the design of power, lighting, and signal systems for a variety of commercial projects, including schools, retail spaces, industrial facilities, municipal buildings, healthcare environments, and more. In this role, you will work closely with Professional Engineers, Engineers-in-Training, and Designers to develop the technical skills necessary for the design process. You will gain hands-on experience performing photometric analyses of lighting systems and using power analysis software to calculate voltage drop, short circuit currents, and arc flash boundaries. Additionally, you will learn about the business and client side of projects, preparing you to eventually manage the full scope of electrical engineering projects. Your responsibilities will include selecting lighting fixtures and control systems that comply with energy codes, designing electrical distribution systems from the utility source to customer panelboards, assisting in cost estimates and specification preparation, and performing studies and reports on arc flash, coordination, equipment assessments, and energy efficiency improvements. You will also conduct site visits to document existing electrical installations and ensure that installations meet contract documents. Coordination and attendance at meetings with clients, consultants, owners, and internal staff members will be an essential part of your role.
