About the position

MSA Professional Services Inc. is seeking a Graduate Engineer II - Plumbing to join our Building Service Line in any of our Wisconsin office locations, including Milwaukee, Madison, Baraboo, Appleton, or Kiel. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage in a variety of projects from inception to completion, allowing you to make a significant and positive impact on the communities we serve. As a Graduate Engineer II, you will be responsible for the design of plumbing systems, which includes performing calculations, creating layouts, sizing systems, selecting equipment, writing specifications, and ensuring proper coordination with other disciplines. You will also be involved in the design and specification of fire protection systems, as well as developing drawings using AutoCAD and Revit. In this role, you will conduct code reviews, review and process shop drawings and submittals, and perform quantity take-offs and cost estimates. Project management and client interaction will be key components of your responsibilities, and you will have the opportunity to assist in mentoring junior technicians and engineers. Responsibilities

  • Design plumbing systems including calculations, layouts, sizing, equipment selections, specifications, and coordination.
  • Design fire protection scope of work including specifications and layout.
  • Develop drawings using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Perform code reviews and shop drawing/submittal review and processing.
  • Conduct quantity take-offs and cost estimates.
  • Manage projects and interact with clients.
  • Assist in mentoring junior technicians and engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • 3+ years of prior commercial plumbing design experience as an engineering MEP consultant or plumbing contractor required.
  • EIT (Engineer in Training) certification required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; ability to obtain PE license within 2 years of employment required.
  • Experience with architectural projects such as schools, municipal buildings, health care facilities, and commercial buildings required.
  • Prior experience coordinating a project from start to finish with contractors, clients, and other disciplines preferred.
  • Experience with Revit required.
  • Prior project management experience required.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills required for a fast-paced and multi-tasking environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with additional software tools related to plumbing design.
  • Familiarity with local plumbing codes and regulations.
  • Strong communication skills for effective client interaction.
