About the position

The Graduate Engineer II Structural position at MSA involves joining the bridge design team in Des Moines, IA, where you will contribute to various state and local bridge projects in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa. This role offers the opportunity to work on projects from inception to completion, making a significant impact on the communities served. You will collaborate with experienced bridge designers, providing structural design expertise and mentorship to graduate engineers.

Responsibilities

• Prepare structural design calculations for bridges and other transportation structures
• Provide mentorship to graduate engineers
• Perform field investigations to evaluate structural conditions and develop repair alternatives
• Oversee construction of transportation structures
• Communicate with clients, agencies, and the public

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required, with an emphasis in structures preferred
• 1+ years of prior bridge design experience preferred
• EIT required
• MicroStation proficiency preferred
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Solid leadership and collaboration skills
• Authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice-to-haves

• Experience designing structures following Iowa DOT Standards
