About the position

The Graduate Intern - Asset Management/ESG position at the New York City Comptroller's Office is designed for graduate students to gain practical experience in asset management and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices. The role focuses on supporting the Bureau of Asset Management in overseeing investment portfolios and ensuring responsible stewardship of resources. Interns will engage in research, due diligence, and monitoring of asset managers, contributing to the office's mission of promoting financial health and accountability within the city government.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with conducting due diligence of asset managers across asset classes to assess their ESG and DEI policies and practices.
  • Assist with monitoring asset managers across asset classes, including maintaining a spreadsheet of ESG and DEI diligence assessments and engagements of managers.
  • Assist with research and tasks related to the Systems' net zero implementation plans as needed.
  • Conduct research and analysis of developments in ESG policy, best practices, and frameworks in priority areas.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a graduate degree program in an accredited college, university, or law school.
