About the position

The Graduate Nurse Residency Program at Texas Health Resources is designed for new graduate RNs to gain essential clinical experience and skills in a supportive environment. This comprehensive program includes a guided clinical experience, a core curriculum, mentoring, and rotations through various departments to enhance nursing competencies. The residency lasts for 15 months, providing a structured onboarding process to help new nurses navigate the complexities of hospital life effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in a guided clinical experience with instructor-led core curriculum.
  • Engage in a formal mentoring program and attend informative debriefing/self-care sessions.
  • Rotate and cross-train through different departments to gain a broader nursing experience.
  • Complete a 15-month employment commitment as part of the residency program.

Requirements

  • Current RN licensure in Texas or a Compact State.
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) required upon hire; BSN preferred.
  • Graduated within the last 12 months preferred.
  • Less than one year of experience at the time the residency begins preferred.
  • No prior completion of a THR nursing residency preferred.
  • Enrolled or completed a DEU with THR preferred.
  • BCLS certification prior to providing independent patient care.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in teaching or mentoring in a clinical setting.
