About the position
The Graduate Nurse position at SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital in Shawnee, OK, is designed for pre-licensure graduates of accredited nursing programs who are participating in the New Graduate Nurse Residency Program. Under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN), the Graduate Nurse provides patient care, performs assessments, develops care plans, and collaborates with healthcare professionals to ensure quality care for patients with various medical conditions. This role emphasizes the delivery of age-appropriate care and the development of patient education plans.
Responsibilities
- Perform delegated tasks based on demonstrated competence in nursing care activities for the population served.
- Conduct patient assessments including biophysical, psychosocial, spiritual, cultural, and age-appropriate needs.
- Develop and evaluate comprehensive patient and family education plans.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation, including processing physician orders.
- Monitor and evaluate nursing care delivery based on patient needs and professional judgment.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding patient care.
- Participate in training to understand and perform patient care responsibilities.
- Complete competency requirements satisfactorily and seek assistance as needed.
- Demonstrate professional nursing standards as defined in the professional practice model.
- Work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or equivalent education for licensing.
- Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Registered Nurse (RN) license within 6 months of graduation for Oklahoma graduates.
