About the position
Otterbein University is seeking a Graduate Teaching Assistant in Football to assist the Head Coach in managing all aspects of a Division III football program. This part-time position is designed for graduate students and includes responsibilities related to coaching, recruitment, and administrative duties. The role emphasizes academic success, moral character, and community involvement, aligning with the university's liberal arts philosophy.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Coach in daily practice routines and coaching techniques.
- Prepare for games and manage administrative duties.
- Engage in recruiting activities to attract quality student-athletes.
- Oversee strength and conditioning programs for athletes.
- Manage event and facility logistics for the football program.
- Ensure compliance with university and NCAA policies and regulations.
- Collaborate with athletic trainers and team physicians for athlete health and safety.
- Drive team and coaches to program-related activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) required.
- Acceptance and enrollment in a Graduate School program at Otterbein University or Antioch University.
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 in graduate studies.
- Complete at least 18 semester hours of coursework annually.
- Experience in coaching or participating in football is preferred.
- Knowledge of strength and conditioning for collegiate athletes is preferred.
- Basic computer skills are preferred.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in collegiate sports coaching.
- Familiarity with NCAA and OAC policies.
