About the position

The Grain Laborer position involves assisting with the implementation and maintenance of the Quality Management System to ensure product standards are met. The role requires operating seed conditioning equipment, conducting quality checks, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. The position is full-time and offers opportunities for overtime during the conditioning season.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the implementation and ongoing maintenance of the Quality Management System to ensure product standards are consistently met.
  • Operate seed conditioning equipment in accordance with operational instructions, conducting and documenting required quality checks and activities.
  • Utilize computer systems for accurate recording and retrieval of information as needed for operational efficiency.
  • Thoroughly clean all equipment between conditioning runs to maintain product integrity and prevent contamination.
  • Lift and stack materials weighing up to 65 lbs. for extended periods, ensuring safe handling practices.
  • Safely climb stairs and/or ladders to monitor and adjust equipment during operation.
  • Optimize product throughput while maintaining high standards of product quality and integrity.
  • Complete all conditioning records with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Perform preseason maintenance on equipment to minimize downtime and ensure readiness for conditioning season.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including seed conditioning, cleaning, grading, and overall maintenance tasks.
  • Determine precise seed counts to calculate chemical application rates that align with customer requirements.
  • Operate seed treatment and RIB blending equipment according to established QMS Work Instructions to ensure consistent product quality.
  • Perform regular calibrations or verifications of treatment scales to ensure equipment accuracy and operational consistency.
  • Conduct treatment accuracy checks to confirm proper application rates and coverage are being achieved.
  • Accurately mix seed treatment chemicals, following safety and quality protocols to ensure correct formulations.
  • Maintain an up-to-date and accurate inventory of seed treatment chemicals and supplies.
  • Perform visual inspections of treated seed to ensure coverage meets company quality standards.
  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of seed treating and blending equipment, ensuring optimal functionality and minimal downtime.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Preferred)
  • 1 year of experience in Grain Operations (Preferred)
  • Valid Driver's License (Required)
