The Grain Sampler position at NDGI involves collecting accurate samples of agricultural products from various sites within a 75-mile radius of Sauget, IL. The role requires the sampler to work on top of railcars and barges, ensuring the integrity of samples while adhering to safety regulations. The position offers variable hours, including opportunities for overtime, and requires the use of a company vehicle for distant sites.

Responsibilities

• Collect representative samples following federal regulations
• Maintain accurate work records with legible handwriting
• Shut railcar and barge lids
• Seal railcar and barge lids to maintain sample integrity
• Follow all safety policies

Requirements

• Ability to bend/lift over 50 lbs.
• Be able to move through the entirety of the shift
• Able to work 12+ hour shifts while standing
• Feel comfortable on top of railcars at 17 feet off the ground (usually with fall protection)
• Feel comfortable working on top of vessels on the water
• Work variable hours and shifts
• Be able to physically handle working in grain dust environments
• Be willing to work in various climates and weather conditions
• No experience required
