About the position

The Granary and Mill Facility Project Manager at Honoré Farm and Mill is responsible for establishing and managing a new grain storage and milling operation in Marin County. This role involves overseeing the setup of the facility, ensuring compliance with regulations, and managing the milling process to produce high-quality flour. The position is part-time and primarily in-person, contributing to the revitalization of the regional grain economy through regenerative farming practices.

Responsibilities

  • Research, procure, and install shipping containers and necessary equipment for grain storage, milling, and fulfillment operations.
  • Coordinate the setup of essential utilities for the facility and oversee renovations.
  • Collaborate with county health officials to ensure legal compliance for operating a milling facility and establish safety protocols.
  • Be present for all deliveries and pickups, ensuring smooth operations and coordination with the Operations Manager.
  • Maintain regular communication with team members and capture progress for marketing campaigns.
  • Manage all aspects of the milling process including grain cleaning, milling, and inventory management.

Requirements

  • Experience in setting up a food production facility is preferred.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge is required.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn agricultural regulations and compliance standards.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of, or at minimum interest in, flour and/or baking is preferred.
