About the position

We are seeking a Budget Analyst to join our team in the non-profit sector. This role is based in New York, NY, and offers a hybrid work model that combines remote and office-based work. The Budget Analyst will be responsible for preparing financial statements, analyzing program expenses, and ensuring compliance with grant requirements, all while supporting the organization's strategic goals.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly financial statements, variance reports, and forecasting processes.
  • Analyze monthly financial statements of multiple programs and provide informed advice to program directors.
  • Lead complex financial analysis to develop budgets and respond to RFPs.
  • Reconcile and perform grant closeout functions as required by contracts administration and sponsors.
  • Monitor program expenses and revenue billings against approved budgets, developing modifications as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with requirements set by contracts administration and funders during the grant closeout process.
  • Evaluate the feasibility of RFPs and monitor contract performance against the budget.
  • Compile and analyze accounting records to determine financial resources required for program implementation.
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports for budget analysis and monitor the financial and programmatic status of assigned accounts.
  • Prepare schedules and reconciliations for the annual audit.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 3+ years of experience in finance or accounting, specifically with government grants.
  • Experience working with non-profit organizations or accounting firms that audit non-profits.
  • Experience with DOE and Headstart grants is a plus.
