About the position

The Budget Analyst position at Robert Half offers an exciting opportunity within the non-profit industry, focusing on financial analysis, budgeting, and grant management. This role is based in New York, New York, and operates under a hybrid work model, allowing for both remote and office-based work. The analyst will play a crucial role in preparing financial statements, analyzing program expenses, and ensuring compliance with grant requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly financial statements, variance reports, and forecasting processes to align with the organization's strategic business goals and objectives.
  • Analyze monthly financial statements of multiple programs and variance reports to provide program directors with informed advice on the best course of action.
  • Lead complex financial analysis to develop budgets, including responding to requests for proposals (RFPs).
  • Reconcile and perform grant closeout functions as required by contracts administration and sponsors, including performing budget modifications as necessary.
  • Monitor program expenses and revenue billings against approved budget, developing budget modifications if necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with all requirements set by contracts administration and funders during the grant closeout process, including submitting quarterly, semi-annual, or annual reports.
  • Evaluate the feasibility of RFPs, monitor contract performance against the budget, and collaborate with program staff to forecast budgets.
  • Compile and analyze accounting records and other data to determine the financial resources required to implement a program.
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports for budget analysis, ensuring adherence to guidelines and policies, and monitoring the financial and programmatic status of assigned accounts.
  • Prepare schedules and reconciliations as required for the annual audit.

Requirements

  • Accounting/Finance degree
  • 3+ years Government Grants experience - either from a Non Profit organization or Accounting Firm where they audit Non Profit organizations
  • DOE & Headstart Grants experience a plus
