About the position

The Grant Accountant position is a frontline role focused on supporting the agency in grants reporting, financial reporting, and various accounting functions. This includes hands-on grant submissions, financial analysis, and maintaining compliance with funding requirements. The role is essential for managing the financial aspects of grants and ensuring accurate reporting and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a complete electronic system of grants filing to ensure compliance with funding and reporting requirements.
  • Set up grants spreadsheets for proper reporting.
  • Maintain the grants accounts receivable sub-ledger and manage receivables for relevant grants.
  • Submit monthly, quarterly, and annual claims to appropriate funding sources.
  • Post all grants billing and associated cash receipts to the general ledger.
  • Run and prepare supporting monthly financial analysis as needed.
  • Prepare salary reclassification journal entries as needed.
  • Prepare audit spreadsheets and reporting for all grants.
  • Assist the budget department in preparing annual grants budgets and forecasting.
  • Assist with preparation and input of the Consolidated Fiscal Report (CFR) as needed.
  • Handle ad-hoc projects as needed.
  • Perform monthly journal entries related to grants billing and bank reconciliations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is required.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a complex accounting, grants, and analysis role.
  • Non-profit experience is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • A relevant master's degree is a strong plus.
