About the position

The Grant Accountant at Northside Center for Child Development is responsible for performing professional accounting work related to financial transactions and budgetary control for assigned funds and departments. This role involves preparing financial reports, ensuring compliance with grant budgets, and assisting with audits, all while contributing to the organization's mission of supporting children and families in overcoming adversity.

Responsibilities

  • Generate monthly billing for all pay sources and secure records for reference.
  • Prepare other government claims and ensure accuracy and timeliness of claims.
  • Complete all monthly, quarterly, and semi-annual reports as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports, statements, and analyses, including balance sheets and income statements.
  • Prepare audit reports and ensure all reconciliations are completed prior to fieldwork.
  • Assist auditors during their fieldwork and analysis.
  • Prepare board reports and assist with general and fiscal operations.
  • Cross-train to assist other staff as needed.

Requirements

  • B.A. or A.A.S. degree from an accredited college or equivalent experience.
  • At least three years of paid employment experience as a Junior Accountant or Bookkeeper.
  • Hands-on experience and working knowledge of computer software/hardware and applications, specifically automated accounting packages, Excel, and Word.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and independent assignments under pressure and meet deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with government funding and claims processes.
  • Knowledge of budget variance analysis.
