About the position

The Grant Coordinator/Writer for the Emergency Management and Resilience department plays a crucial role in identifying and securing funding opportunities to support various projects and initiatives within the City of Cape Coral. This position requires a proactive approach to grant program implementation and management, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements while effectively managing awarded funds. The Grant Coordinator will be responsible for conducting thorough research to identify potential funding sources from public, private, federal, state, and local entities. This includes the solicitation and award processes, which involve data collection, application creation, and submission, as well as programmatic and fiscal oversight of awarded projects. In addition to grant management, the Grant Coordinator will engage in substantial outreach efforts to the community and elected officials. This includes active participation in countywide initiatives, task forces, committees, and partnership opportunities to promote the city’s resilience and emergency management goals. The role also involves maintaining accurate records and ensuring internal financial coordination of funds, donations, and sponsored programs. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, the ability to evaluate financial and administrative data, and a commitment to fostering effective business relationships within the community. Responsibilities

  • Identifies funding opportunities from public, private, federal, state, and local sources.
  • Conducts solicitation and award processes, including data collection, application creation and submission, programmatic and fiscal oversight of awarded projects, project development and management, reporting and regulatory compliance, records maintenance and internal financial coordination of funds, donations, and sponsored programs.
  • Engages in substantial outreach to the community and elected officials through active participation in countywide initiatives, task forces, committees, and partnership opportunities.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, Business Administration, or closely related field.
  • Three (3) years of experience in grant program implementation and management, including experience of a responsible nature in analyzing and evaluating financial, statistical, and administrative data.
