About the position

The Grant Manager (Project/Program Manager II) position at King County Parks is a temporary role focused on managing and supporting various grant programs aimed at enhancing community parks and recreational spaces. The role involves collaboration with grantees, providing technical assistance, and ensuring compliance with grant management processes. The position is integral to advancing the Parks mission through effective grantmaking and community engagement, with a strong commitment to equity and social justice.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with grantees and internal teams to bring grant awards to contract, ensuring accurate invoicing and reporting.
  • Conduct outreach and provide comprehensive technical assistance to various applicants.
  • Partner on the process of developing a request for grant application and reviewing and evaluating grant applications.
  • Manage grants and contracts in accordance with standard operating procedures and policies, ensuring compliance and effective program delivery.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with a variety of internal and external partners to foster collaboration and success.
  • Provide expert technical assistance to grant applicants, recipients, community partners, and internal teams.
  • Organize and prioritize work effectively to adapt to changing needs and meet deadlines.
  • Oversee grant contracts, ensuring compliance with regulations and funding parameters.

Requirements

  • Educational background or professional experience in fields such as grant or project management, community development, public affairs, urban planning, natural resource management, parks and recreation or similar.
  • At least one year of experience in grantmaking across the full grant lifecycle.
  • Proven ability to apply principles of equity, social justice and anti-racism in programs and policies.
  • Highly effective oral and written communication skills including writing/proofreading, making presentations, and communicating cross-culturally with diverse partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with a variety of multi-disciplinary partners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams), Zoom or similar video conferencing software, and shared file management software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Two or more years of relevant grantmaking experience, including contracting, invoicing, and compliance.
  • Strong expertise in supporting the Request for Application (RFA) processes for various grant programs with unique funding requirements.
  • Previous experience with grant management software and tools, such as Foundant or similar platforms.
  • Working knowledge of grant priorities, such as equitable access to recreational programs, support for sports and physical activity, development of parks, improvement of recreational facilities, open space development, habitat restoration, and the restoration of natural functions of rivers.
  • Expertise in areas such as capacity building, recreational programs, land acquisition, feasibility studies, planning and design projects, and capital construction.
