The Grants Accountant at Bethune-Cookman University plays a crucial role in the post-award administration of various grants, including federal, state, local, and private funding. This position is integral to ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, funding agency guidelines, and university policies. The Grants Accountant will interact closely with principal investigators and administrative staff to provide guidance and support in budgeting and reporting grant expenditures. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of grant funding policies and the ability to navigate complex regulations effectively. In this position, the Grants Accountant will maintain a robust knowledge base of grant funding policies, regulations, and procedures. They will assist principal investigators and co-investigators in administering grants in accordance with university policies and the requirements set forth by funding agencies. A key responsibility will be coordinating with principal investigators to ensure timely submission of both external and internal reports, which is essential for maintaining compliance and transparency in grant management. The Grants Accountant will also be responsible for monthly reporting of budget versus actual results to department heads and principal investigators, ensuring that all financial activities are accurately tracked and reported. They will manage the administration of grants, including handling budget changes that may occur during the grant period and calculating indirect cost reimbursements. Additionally, the role involves completing expenditure reports for various agencies and assisting in the preparation of work papers related to grants for the annual financial audit. The Grants Accountant will review, approve, and process budget transfers for restricted program accounts and ensure compliance with Time & Effort reporting requirements. Other duties may be assigned as necessary to support the university's operations.
