About the position

The Grants Accountant I position at the Coalition for Responsible Community Development is responsible for supporting accounts receivable functions, monitoring, billing, collections, and reporting on assigned government and foundation grants. This role involves ensuring compliance with grant contracts and regulations, as well as maintaining accurate financial records related to grant spending. The Grants Accountant I will work closely with the finance team and other departments to support grant management and reporting processes.

Responsibilities

  • Support accounts receivable functions for government and foundation grants.
  • Monitor, bill, and collect on assigned grants.
  • Ensure compliance with grant contracts and regulations.
  • Maintain grants and contracts data in NetSuite and SharePoint.
  • Enter all grant billing accounts receivable and revenue entries.
  • Post payments against open balances and assist with reconciliations.
  • Maintain a grant payments log for the main operating bank account.
  • Support periodic grant billings by established deadlines.
  • Gather backup support and review check requests.
  • Assist with grant receivable collections to minimize outstanding items.
  • Prepare periodic and close-out grant reports according to timelines.
  • Assist with budget modifications and new grant budget preparation.
  • Support grant audits as needed.
  • Stay updated on laws and regulations impacting assigned work.
  • Adhere to department and organizational standards and policies.
  • Cross-train as backup for other accounting staff as needed.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in accounting, business, or related field.
  • 2 - 3 years' experience or education in accounting or related field.
  • Proficiency in software applications, databases, spreadsheets, and word processing.
  • Understanding of accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced college courses in accounting or related field.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Experience with Oracle NetSuite.
  • 3 - 5 years' experience in the Non-Profit Industry.
