About the position

The Grants Administrator at Clemson University is responsible for managing all aspects of sponsored projects within Grants and Contracts Administration. This role involves providing high-level customer service to faculty and researchers, serving as a liaison between sponsors and departments, and ensuring compliance throughout the awards' life-cycle.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance, guidance, and oversight to researchers and University constituents in the awarding of sponsored funds.
  • Monitor sponsored budgets, cost sharing, subaward encumbrances, PO requests in BuyWays, and expenses for allowability and compliance.
  • Create vouchers for subaward payments and serve as the University liaison with sponsoring agencies for budget revisions and no-cost extensions.
  • Analyze and resolve problems related to financial compliance or availability of funds, acting as the final authority on unallowable expenses.
  • Establish new customers and invoice per award terms as a delegated University fiscal signing official for certification of expenses.
  • Review unclaimed Electronic Funds Transfer listings and aging reports, contacting sponsors regarding past due invoices and collections.
  • Develop, prepare, and maintain closeout reports that accurately represent Clemson's financial expenses to sponsors.
  • Review the accuracy of data entered in the setup of sponsored projects and subaward purchase orders in the CUBS/Peoplesoft system.
  • Notify PIs/Departments/Colleges/Pre-Award of awards/modifications and upcoming closing projects, ensuring the closeout of subaward POs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in grants and contracts administration or a similar role.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with federal, state, and private sponsor-funded systems.
  • Knowledge of compliance regulations related to sponsored projects.
  • Familiarity with financial reporting and budgeting processes.
