About the position

St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners is seeking a Grants and Policy Analyst for County Administration whose headquarters are located in beautiful St. Augustine, Florida. The newly selected Grants and Policy Analyst will perform highly responsible and professional work providing oversight, governance and accountability for complex state and federal grant funding programs for St. Johns County.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs liaison to local farmers and agricultural communities
  • Assist the County in cultivating partnership opportunities to preserve generational farms and secure funding to promote agriculture innovation and production
  • Assist the County in identifying opportunities to improve the resiliency of infrastructure critical to agriculture production
  • Identify rural areas of the County that align with State and Federal funding
  • Assist in the design of an annual grant development plan based on County strategic priorities and potential funding sources
  • Develop and prepare grant applications including written narratives, proposal forms, concept papers, budgets, standard Federal forms, and letters of support
  • Maintain knowledge of changing federal, state, and private foundation grant standards and proposal guidelines
  • Serve as the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs liaison for assigned grants to local, state, and federal agencies, community stakeholders, and other relevant parties for assigned grants
  • Conduct presentations, public meetings, and workshops regarding grant-funded projects
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Environmental Sciences, Soils and Water Sciences, Economics, Non-profit Management, or a related field
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in government or non-profit working as an advocate on behalf of agriculture
  • An equivalent combination of education, experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities to thoroughly understand and perform the major duties of the position
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license and any other endorsements necessary to legally operate vehicles used while assigned to this position
  • Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills to serve others
  • Must be able to comprehend, speak and write the English language
  • Must have prior experience using Excel or other databases
