About the position

The Grants & Contracts Analyst II at the Rutgers Institute for Nicotine and Tobacco Studies is responsible for managing restricted and unrestricted grants and contracts, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and university guidelines. This role involves overseeing financial transactions, preparing reports, and maintaining detailed records for each grant, contributing to the institute's mission of reducing tobacco-related morbidity and mortality.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees payment for office, travel, and meeting expenses.
  • Prepares reports and spreadsheets containing findings, analyses, conclusions, and recommendations as requested.
  • Creates and maintains files on each individual grant, responsible for all critical components including application, award, and budget analysis.
  • Prepares and initiates Employee Charging Instructions and Journal Entries according to Federal, State, and University guidelines.
  • Coordinates the processing of budget adjustments and transfers, Employee Charging Instructions, salary transfers, purchase requisitions, and purchase orders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field, such as Business Administration.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a grants or budget area.
  • Excellent business acumen and accounting skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications at an advanced level, specifically in Excel.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong knowledge of research grants and contracts budgeting.
  • Familiarity with federal guidelines/regulations pertaining to Research and Development.
